Participatory Design suggests new approaches to learning environments

Over the past ten years, Autens has conducted a large number of participatory design processes in which teachers and students co-create prototypes of learning environments, suggesting how they would like their learning environments to be configures and shaped.

Across the board these prototypes revealed widely shared needs and preferences, which significantly deviate from the traditional classroom model with desks arranged in parallel rows facing a teacher’s desk. This has led to the development of the Autens Learning Environment Compass to guide the design of learning environments based on the learning from the user-centric learning environments.

A list of the workshops and number of participants can be found in this document.
