Students redesigning the classrooms at Søllested School

At Søllested Village School head teacher Bitten Maria Svendsen and her colleagues have shown both bravery and vision: They have places the learning space design in the hands of the children and a group of Social Education students from Absalon University College.

In less than two weeks they completely transformed the school. They started out emptying all classrooms – and then played their way through designing thoughtful, student-centered spaces for learning and well-being. Our Learning Space Design Lab™ was used in the process to support children in developing ideas and making prototypes.

This followed on from August where we had the great pleasure of working with the entire staff on reimagining their learning spaces.

The collaborative redesign has made use of existing furniture that has been up cycled and every class had a budget of 25.000 DKK to realise their vision.

If you look up Autens under Youtube you will soon be able to see an inspiring little video from the process and see the stunning result!
